چکیده

Maxwell’s equations are considered with transparent boundary conditions, with initial conditions and inhomogeneity having support in a bounded, not necessarily convex three-dimensional domain or in a collection of such domains. The proposed computational scheme only involves the interior domain and its boundary. The transparent boundary conditions are imposed via a time-dependent boundary integral operator that is shown to satisfy a coercivity property. The stability of the numerical method relies on this coercivity. The method proposed here uses a discontinuous Galerkin method and the leapfrog scheme in the interior and is coupled to boundary elements and convolution quadrature on the boundary. The method is explicit in the interior and implicit on the boundary. Stability and convergence of the spatial semidiscretization are proven, and with a computationally simple stabilization term, this is also shown for the full discretization.

Pseudo-spectral Analysis of Radially-Diagonalized Maxwell's Equations in Cylindrical Co-ordinates.

We present a robust and accuracy enhanced method for analyzing the propagation behavior of EM waves in z-periodic structures in (r, ö, z)-cylindrical co-ordinates. A cylindrical disk, characterized by the radius a and the periodicity length Lz, defines the fundamental cell in our problem. The permittivity of the dielectric inside this cell is characterized by an arbitrary, single-valued functio...

Stable numerical coupling of exterior and interior problems for the wave equation

The acoustic wave equation on the whole three-dimensional space is considered with initial data and inhomogeneity having support in a bounded domain, which need not be convex. We propose and study a numerical method that approximates the solution using computations only in the interior domain and on its boundary. The transmission conditions between the interior and exterior domain are imposed b...

On Maxwell's equations in exterior domains

In this paper the long time asymptotic behavior of solutions of Maxwell's equations with electric conductivity in an exterior domain with mixed boundary conditions is investigated. It is shown that the solution behaves asymptotically like a free space solution provided it obeys a suitable local decay-property. As a consequence the completeness of the wave-operators is obtained under very genera...

High-order/Spectral Methods on Unstructured Grids I. Time-domain Solution of Maxwell’s Equations

We present an ab initio development of a convergent high-order accurate scheme for the solution of linear conservation laws in geometrically complex domains. As our main example we present a detailed development and analysis of a scheme suitable for the time-domain solution of Maxwell's equations in a three-dimensional domain. The fully unstructured spatial discretization is made possible by th...

On the split-step method for the solution of nonlinear Schr"{o}dinger equation with the Riesz space fractional derivative

The aim of this paper is to extend the split-step idea for the solution of fractional partial differential equations. We consider the multidimensional nonlinear Schr"{o}dinger equation with the Riesz space fractional derivative and propose an efficient numerical algorithm to obtain it's approximate solutions. To this end, we first discretize the Riesz fractional derivative then apply the Crank-...
